a day from last year (part 1 of ??)

Been thinking bout this one for a while. A few weeks (months?) ago some family asked for pictures of last years reunion.

These photos are *technically* from our trip down to SC, but there wasn’t much in the way of family relating…. they just happened to be the first ones I found on the computer and converted and did minimal editing to.

This day is marked on my photos as the 28th of July 2011.

We, me, Jared, Andrew and Mindy disappeared to Charleston, SC to be tourists. :)

The first two are from the park (and I have now completely managed to forget what it’s officially called).

Then we found a church with a cemetery. I absolutely LOVE taking pictures in cemeteries, don’t know why exactly, but I do. (That’s the next bunch)

Throw in a few random Charleston pictures…

End with my son in his first photo eating (his favorite thing to do) in his second photo playing with a stick (his next favorite thing to do). And finally the kiddos splashing in the pool.

Hopefully you can check back later in the weekend for more from the time there. And now goodnight all.

April photo-a-day challenge

April photo a day challenge from Fat Mum Slim

I enjoyed the March photo a day challenge and am looking foward to this one!

As I mentioned in my previous post I’m primarily posting using Instagram (@raeholloway) and Twitter (@fanholloway)

random moments from the week

Mr Chubby (Karl). We went for his 2-month check up this week and he weighed in over 12 lbs

Introduced Johnny to Uncle Simon’s hampster this morning. At first he was really excited, but then when he went to hold him, he wasn’t so sure

Daddy and Karl. I love pictures like this, especially since Karl has started smiling. They are so precious to capture :)

a rare moment in the early morning when they are both *sitting* on the couch reading

I’ve been doing a ”photo-a-day” challenge for March using Fat Mum Slim’s photo list. This was the picture for one of the days last week titled “Feet” (Incidently there is another challenge for April – list is here ) I’ve been putting my pictures on Instagram (@raeholloway) and twitter (@fanholloway)

sandbox

we’ve been talking for weeks now of building a sandbox for the kids. well, talking of Jared building and me just watching. so today we did!!

first a trip to Lowes was in order, since obviously you need sand for a sandbox, but then while there we decided to get the other necesities (such as wood and screws) as well

…then assembly … seeing as how it took all of 10 minutes, I don’t know why we didn’t make it sooner

… almost time to play …

… now, its time to play …

All pics taken with my handy dandy iPhone :)

Warm weather :)

The weather seems to be warming just slightly, so nice. The kiddos especially love to be outside.

Some photos of our time today:

This is my flower pot I received for my birthday, Jared made it for me. I’ve been meaning for some time now to transplant one of the Christmas cactuses to it, finally got around to it today.

(btw, this is the first post that I did primarily from my phone, was able to do everything except the linky)

a saturday adventure out

As I mentioned in my previous post, last Saturday we went to Southside Community Land Trust’s spring kickoff event at the Roger William’s Park botanical garden.

Here are some pics of the time :)

First stop… Music area

Katherine and Papa (Grandpa) checking out the musicians that were playing

A very nice lady was trying to give John the maracas so he could join in the music

…but he very politely gave them back

 ~ the band

~ from the other side (note my kids looking completely lost)

Here’s just a few more of the music section:

Moving on…

We stopped at the goldfish pond (Those goldfish were HUGE)

Then we got some face paint…. well kinda, weren’t too sure about the face, so we did the hand instead (Johnny didn’t get any because he was actually a little under the weather and was taking a rest in the stroller, to finish his popcorn)

…on to ”flag” making

first she drew  ….. then she colored her fingers

~ Karl was a little out of it too, so we made him his flag for him

~ not sure what type of flower this was, but it reminded me of Dr. Seuss

~ must have the naked water fountain picture

the entire time we were there John kept pointing at the ceiling fans

~~ Johnny going down the hill ~~

So long everyone!!!

spring kickoff

Yesterday we went to Southside Community Land Trust’s annual spring kickoff even at the Roger William’s Park botanical garden. I had so many cute pictures of the kids there. (I am halfway through sorting them and resizing to put online, but I don’t think I will finish tonight – I will have them tomorrow, promise!) I did want to linky up to Simple things Sunday though before it got too late

Here is Katherine taking a few moments to sit and….

1 – admire her ladybug paint on her hand! Love her surprised expression

2 – point at something of interest

3 – enjoying the last of the popcorn

we saw a llama!!

Yep, you read that right! The West Warwick Public Library had a real-live llama visit yesterday. So, of course since I had nothing better to do on a georgous Wednesday morning with three little ones, I went to see him. (Along with my sister-in-law and her two little ones – an 21mo. old and a 4 mo. old). (Yep, I think we were just crazy to try to do that)… Anyhows…

John wasted no time what-so-ever getting up close with the llama

(yes, he had his knees practically underneath the llama.) He absolutely LOVES animals, and he gets SO SO SO excited whenever he sees one, even if its just a cat walking across the street. :)

Katherine was a little slower to go touch him, but I’m pretty sure the number of kids that were there had something to do with that. (She’s in the pink dress) She kept calling it a camel.

This is Aunty Cici’s hand on the top, trying to interest the baby. John of course is ready to lead him away.

(Here is the llama… or more accurately, his nose)

Even though someone’s arm (?) got into the shot, I like this one.

And here is the group. Again, Katherine is more interested in the kids than the llama.

It was a bit hard to get pictures while trying to 1) watch the kids 2) try NOT to step on other kids while taking pictures and 3) keeping an eye on baby Karl (not pictured, since he spent the entire time in the stroller in the back of the room). As soon as they started talking about the llama (after all that I don’t even remember what they said his/her name was – although I know they mentioned it), all the kids lost interest. So we went upstairs to play, then decided it was too nice of a day (plus everyone was getting ansy again) and we went to the park instead.

All in all, a fun time, but I think next time we’ll just go to a petting zoo with less crowds. :)

hugs and kisses – i heart faces

this weeks i heart faces photo challenge is hugs and kisses. with the new baby around we’ve had tons of opportunities for hugs and kisses (and photos of them), but since i can only upload one for the challenge here it what i chose.

this is my first time linking up with i heart faces weekly photo challenge. i’ve been a long time reader, but this is the first i’ve actually done it.

johnny and the marble slide

When at grandma’s house yesterday, they brought out the marble slide… as far as I know, this was the first time the kids had seen it. Johnny was totally mesmerized by it. I couldn’t decide which picture to put up so I just included all of them. :)
